ONTARIO LIBERAL GOVERNMENT TRYS TO KILL HOME OWNERSHIP
In the recent budget, the Ontario Liberal government has decided to add a new tax all new homes over $500,000 at a rate of 8%. Since builders sell homes including tax, this will hide approximately an additional $30,500 of tax in the price. Since most buyers will add this to their mortgage, this will add over $53,500 including interest, assuming 5% over 25 years.
WHAT RIGHT DOES THE GOVERNMENT HAVE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY? WHAT DID THEY DO TO TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY?
Even though you may not be buying a $500,000 home now, eventually, over time, modest homes or townhomes will cost this amount in many locations in Ontario. That's due to inflation, a shortage of building lots, and it can not be prevented.
This new tax is not fair to our children, and grandchildren. They have a right to affordable housing. Tax income, not home ownership!
Call your local MPP to complain, why vote for a government that does not support new home construction workers, and adds unnecessary costs to your new home? Home builders have been trying to lower prices, add incentives, and to make home ownership as affordable as possible. This is a complete tax grab. Home builders are not against a blended HST, just make housing exempt from any new taxes.
